Formed as a quartet in 2013 by Koshiro Hino, goat (jp)’s original lineup consisted of guitar, saxophone, bass and drums. Today’s evolution offers a quintet that fluidly switches instruments depending on the song. Disregarding traditional musical forms their melodies focus on muted sounds and harmonics from outside of the 12-tone scale. Their minimalist compositions are an exercise in persistent repetition, filled with contradictions - complex yet simple, mechanical yet sensual - operating in an almost trance-like state in their performances.
