Alex Rex is the ghost-rock brainchild of Alex Neilson (of Trembling Bells, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Shirley Collins, Current 93, etc.). Expect songs about love, loss, and the occasional bout of loathing—drawn from Greek tragedy, Barbra Streisand, and the relentless commentary of Alex’s own inner critic.
Since 2016, Alex Rex have released five albums, quietly building a reputation somewhere between cult favourite and beautifully haunted presence. In 2026, Alex was awarded the Paul Hamlyn Award for Music.
