Apart from the band Dream Wife, Courtney Barnett has also decided to program her own personal dream wife, and you can’t disagree with her choice in this. Jen Cloher studied to become an actress, but decided right after her studies to record her first EP 'Permanent Marker'. The EP meant the beginning of her musical career and resulted in 2006 in her first album, 'Dead Wood Falls'.This album was created by Jen Cloher And The Endless Sea and was the beginning of a project that lasted until 2010. Cloher got herself a nomination for Best Female Artist at the 2006 ARIA Music awards, and the album was followed-up by her second album 'Hidden Hands', that helped her process the way in which her mother lost the battle against Alzheimer. For her third album, In Blood Memory, Courtney Barnett joined Cloher’s band, and the two of them really got along, as they are still a happy couple up to this day. The album was released after a strong crowdfunding campaign, and got nominated for the Australian music price.
Last year, Cloher released her fourth, self-titled album. On this new album, she talks about a wide range of subjects, that go from loneliness to political anger, but most importantly always contain a sentimental element. Cloher shows an honesty that has become rare in music, giving her shows a strong pureness to them. The album was released on Milk! Records, the label that was founded by Cloher and Barnett.
“Astonishingly candid…(she) tackles politics, equality and pride with frank intimacy”
